Kaleidoscope
A lost moment, an instant that barely brushes time. An interval of time that could have been lost definitively in history, has been captured in a fraction of a second by a camera.
The tree, the grandfather, the girl, the cat…there is a curiosity, avoiding and challenging in the gaze of the girl. There is a carefulness. But at the foot of the oak tree, the fear has become familiar, bearable and common place, like many other fears.
Paradoxically, the camera is what shakes- it sees that life begins and returns- it needs it’s tree. Those who have seen this gesture become involved, become the oak tree for the camera, supporting it in it’s embrace. And new expressions appear andtake a new look at the scene: drawings, paintings on different surfaces, sculpture, poetry, photographic recreations, manipulations, jewellery…
Thirty acts about one millisecond, a collective action based on a camera that questions and is questioned, a plural act that suggests an opening of that view point, a view from each person’s life. A kaleidoscope in which freedom (of expression) moves the hands of time.
